The Greater Baltimore Region is blessed to be home to scores of major corporate entities. However, perhaps the most important Baltimore-based corporate entity, in terms of one’s daily existence, is Baltimore Gas & Electric (BGE). Other than the sun’s daily rising, energy production and consumption is notably industrial mankind’s most significant asset.

BGE, America’s oldest and now most reliable energy provider founded in 1816, is the backbone of Greater Baltimore’s core of essential economic institutions. Over its double century existence, BGE has seen many CEOs and/or presidents prior to CEOs becoming fashionable. Each of BGE’s previous leaders commenced with a vision to improve the entity and do better for its rate payers and shareholders.

In late 2019, Lebanese American Carim V. Khouzami was elevated to CEO at perhaps one of the most critical, turbulent health and economic periods in recent American history due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. “CEO Khouzami is perhaps the best person for the job during the pandemic because of his well-rounded corporate history. Coming from previous corporate positions like Chief Financial Officer, Investment Banker, Investor Relations, in addition to a corporate mergers and acquisitions background, Khouzami is well suited and equipped to manage BGE out of the health and economic catastrophe America is experiencing now. His vast experience and thoughtful approach to solutions will keep BGE at the center of best in service, safety, satisfaction, reliability, diversity inclusion, and profits and investor value appreciation; Khouzami’s time is now,” said Wayne R. Frazier, Sr., president of Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA). “Baltimore and BGE is blessed to have Carim Khouzami on board.”

We are pleased to be granted an opportunity to interview BGE’s CEO, Carim V. Khouzami, about his views and vision for BGE. Please read and enjoy his responses.
