Day & Sons, Inc. - A Diverse Supplier That Has Grown into a Company of Choice for Major Utilities

Maryland is blessed to have many underground utility construction trades certified as diverse suppliers with federal and state certifications. Many of these hard-working businesses were founded by the original owner and grew from one employee, one  backhoe, a directional boaring drill and dump truck, to a future with scores of employees and equipment.

Today, we are proud to profile one of those businesses. Founded in 2004 by Kevin Day, Day & Sons, Inc. started their operations by installing underground communications and electrical conduit for private and government concerns. The company gradually grew to electrical cable replacement work with BGE, along with URD, and service lateral contract work, as a qualified contractor.  As the company continued to grow, with fulltime employment now at 75, natural gas distribution line work was added with the company becoming a, “Contractor of Choice,” by Exelon. “Day & Sons, Inc., is a great American story of a young African American man, working in the field, but dreaming of owning his own business and providing for his family. Kevin Day with very humble beginnings is the type of business leader that our community relishes because he cares about his customers, employees, and family. It makes me proud to know that his work on natural gas lines and high voltage electric service is quality, but safety is his first priority.
