Project Description:
Barton Malow is the Construction Manager for Towson University for this project. Total Project Construction Cost is $40M-$50M.
The Towson University Glen Tower Residence Complex was constructed in 1983. The Complex includes 4 high- rise towers accommodating 1,617 beds with a centralized dining hall building and an outdoor plaza connecting the towers and dining. The project scope includes façade improvements to the Towers to cover existing concrete façade, replacement of storefront window assemblies for improved thermal performance, and replacement of existing canopies. In addition, the Tower’s HVAC and supporting electrical systems will be upgraded. Infrastructure improvements include stormwater, sanitary, and water supply lines. Plaza improvements include new seating, hardscaping, and landscaping.
One Tower will be unoccupied and renovated at a time for a period of 12 months. The remaining Towers and Dining Hall will be occupied and functional throughout construction. Field construction will start on June 1, 2021 and will continue for the next 48 months through July 2025..
The following bid packages are scheduled to be advertised and released to bidders through Building Connected on November 6, 2020. Bids will be due at the Building Connected Website on December 10, 2020 at 5:00PM. This project has overall 30% MBE goals, with 7% African-American and 4% Asian-American subgoals.
