Despite freezing temperatures, over 1,000 registered small, minority and women-owned businesses seeking future work and establishing fresh contacts from over 100 prime companies were at Live! Casino & Hotel’s Minority Outreach Fair on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the new Event Center and Hotel located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Live! Casino & Hotel hosts the semi-annual Minority Outreach Fair that has been held since opening in 2011. This was the second Minority Outreach Fair that Live! has held in its new Event Center and Hotel. The spacious new Event Center is the largest indoor venue in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and can accommodate many different types of events including conventions, headliner entertainment, and weddings. The Cordish Companies have created a world-class destination, there is nothing else like it in Maryland, in which you can arrive by public transportation or park your car at the adjacent garage to play slots/table games, enjoy a show at the new Event Center, walk to restaurants to enjoy a meal prepared by world renowned chefs in a relaxed casual atmosphere, and have access to outlet shopping.  Other areas may offer similar amenities, but not in such close proximity where guest can walk to them all within five minutes or less. Instead of spending time driving around where amenities are not in walking distance, you can maximize your enjoyment efficiently.

General Manager, Travis Lamb, and Director of Purchasing, Charles Felton, each greeted the massive group of enabling small business owners and over 100 prime and empowering exhibitors/matchmaking host companies to Live! Casino & Hotel’s new Event Center with spacious exhibit areas and a private business-to-business matchmaking area where prime and small business representatives could meet individually in person to discuss how they could work together. In four hours, small business representatives met with over 100 prime company representatives including: Beatty Development/Armada Hoffler Construction, Centennial Surety  Associates, Inc., Cianbro Corporation, Clark Construction Group, Clayco, DC Water, Dominion Energy, Inc., Dustin Construction, Exelon Corporation (BGE/Pepco Holdings), F.H. Paschen, First National Bank, Gilbane Building Company, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, Harkins Builders, Hensel Phelps, Hess Construction, Hooten Construction, Kitch and Cloud Building Services, Inc., M&T Bank, PJ Dick, Incorporated, PNC Bank, Purple Line Transit Constructors, South Capitol Bridge Builders, The Howard Hughes Corporation, The Johns Hopkins University & Health System, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, Tradepoint Atlantic, Turner Construction Company, Washington Gas, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC), Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and other various Maryland government agencies.

Tony Hill, Managing Partner of Edwards & Hill Office Furniture, a minority-owned firm, was the guest speaker and he shared his story about how when he first started working with Live! Casino & Hotel he had four (4) employees and how it has grown to over 24 employees and how he and Co-Owner Hans Edwards have created a great relationship with various contacts including the General Manger of Live! Casino & Hotel, Travis Lamb.

“Several participating exhibitors echoed the same sentiment, we have never given out all of our business cards and event materials, this truly was the best ever MBE/WBE expo. The Cordish Companies and Live! Casino & Hotel are simply the most inclusive gaming and hotel operation in Maryland. They host the Minority Outreach Fairs twice yearly,” said Wayne R. Frazier, Sr., President of Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA).
