Clark Says They Will Meet and/or Exceed MBE Goals on the New University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center

Clark Construction Group, the winning bidder to construct the new world class University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, a $600M medical facility in the heart of Prince George’s County, held its final outreach for minority and women-owned trades on October 26, 2017 at Marriott’s Greenbelt location.

 

Michael J. Hartman, Senior Vice President at Clark Construction Group, opened the event by informing the guests of the specific trades that it is expected of all prime trade company packages to meet or exceed minority business participation goals of 35% and a local goal of 15% for any business based in and certified by Prince George’s County. After going over the goals, Mr. Hartman introduced Clark’s local Prince George’s County construction partners which included Bruce Mitchell of Columbia Enterprises General Contracting, Jonathan Blunt of Essex Construction, Lunique Estime’ of Estime’ Enterprises, and Sharon Moore Jackson of S.M. Jackson Government Business Solutions. It should be noted that all the local partners are African-American business owners.

 

Important upcoming dates for this project include:

  • Wednesday, November 8, 2017 – Final Day for Bid Document RFI
  • Thursday, November 16, 2017 – Subcontractors Bids Due at 2:00pm
  • Mid-December – Begin Purchasing of Subcontractors
  • January 2018 – Start Construction
