Washington, DC – The Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) has selected A. Bradley Mims as its President and Chief Executive Officer, effective May 1, 2017. Mims has been serving as Interim President since August of 2016.

“For the past eight months as Interim President and CEO, Bradley Mims has guided COMTO with inspirational leadership and a wise, steady hand at the wheel,” said Warren Montague, COMTO’s National Board Chair. “His experience in both the private and the public sectors, his diverse transportation background and his management expertise is clearly the perfect match for our needs in this vital position. We look forward to continuing to build the COMTO brand under his direction.”

Mr. Mims outlines a robust agenda for the venerable organization. “As we approach the Golden Anniversary of COMTO in 2021, we plan to launch a series of major initiatives to propel us into 50 more years of leadership and strength in the transportation industry,” he says.

His plans include training and professional development programs to keep the organization’s membership ahead of the curve of new technology; assertive advocacy for a broad spectrum of minorities; growth of national membership and partnership in multi-modal arenas; and continued maintenance of a solid financial base for the organization.

“Additionally,” Mr. Mims notes, “I want to assure that COMTO is providing outreach and information to young men and women of color on the broad spectrum of employment and contracting opportunities in the transportation industry.”

With almost 40 years of experience in the transportation industry, Mr. Mims has an extensive government relations and transportation portfolio.

He has a multi-modal background and holds a special affinity for the aviation industry, having previously worked as Vice President and Aviation Market Leader for Parsons Brinckerhoff, and as Senior Associate for the transportation group at Booz Allen Hamilton. He served in the Clinton administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mr. Mims was also the congressional liaison for the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum and the National African American Museum. He worked on Capitol Hill for more than 12 years as transportation staffer to Congressmen John Lewis of Georgia and Julian Dixon of California. Mr. Mims holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Allegheny College, and is a member of the Board of the Central Maryland Regional Transportation Authority, a former member of the Board of Directors for the Airport Consultants Council, and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Transportation Authority.

He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), and is the current Co-Chair of the Dulles Corridor Committee. He also serves on its Business Administration, Finance, and Strategic Development committees.
