Howard County Councilman Calvin Ball Successfully Passed Council Resolution 181

Council Resolution 181
Councilman Calvin Ball, Howard County Council, District 2

There is great news in Howard County for minority and women owned companies! Visionary leader Councilman Calvin Ball authored transformational legislation and successfully got it to pass unanimously in the Howard County Council.

His legislation, Council Resolution 181, will task the Equal Business Opportunity Commission to consult with other organizations in the Howard County community and perform a study on the procurement and purchasing practices of the Equal Business Opportunity Program. This study will be performed with an emphasis on ensuring that minority, women and disadvantaged owned businesses are receiving equal opportunities to be awarded contracts here in Howard County.

With this legislation, Councilman Ball aims to level the playing field for all minority, women, and disadvantaged business enterprises ("MWDBEs") and create a constructive environment for contractors to help their MWDBE prosper in the future.

Councilman Ball is committed to helping create more openings for minority, women owned and disabled owned businesses. In further effort to establish a constructive environment for contractors, he has worked with the Howard Hughes Company to create a MOU with the County to ensure that the grand stakeholder award a percentage of contracts to minority, women and disabled enterprises.

Please join MWMCA in thanking Howard County Councilman Calvin Ball for his making Howard County an exemplar for opportunity.
